Yesterday we had the privilege of visiting Chevron. We took a tour called Chevron Tours and we had an amazing tour guide name Rabbi Simcha Hochbaum, who taught us a lot of interesting information.
The first stop on the tour was at Kever Rachel. It is very sad how they must have so much protection on the site so that the Arabs do not shoot at the guests.
Later, we visited many neighborhoods in Chevron. The situation there is terrible seeing that the Arabs have 80% of the city in their possession while the Jews only have 20%. Living in that 20% are 1,000 Jews and 15,000 Arabs. The Arabs therefore have access to the whole city while the Jews can only access their 20%. As you tour the streets you see barely any Jews walking but instead you see the streets crowded with Arabs.
When we visited the actual neighborhoods, we saw that the living conditions there are horrible. It us hard to live when you are afraid of taking a stroll down the street and when your own government is trying to get you to leave in order to avoid the high costs of protecting the city. The last stop of the tour was Ma'arat Hamachpalah where the patriarchs are buried. the Jews have access to the part of the cemetery where Abraham, Sarah, Yaakov, and Leah are buried. The Arabs have access to Yitzchak and Rivka. This all changes during 10 days during the year the whole cemetery is only available to the Jews and another 10 days when it is only open to the Arabs.
The tour was amazing and I highly suggest taking this tour or at least donating to their organization.
